The A1 Lawn – Clay Master Grass Seed is designed for those wanting to establish turf in areas where there is clay soil. Normal grass seeds struggle to establish in these conditions however, this blend of cultivars is specially designed to cope well in these areas. The tall fescue varieties are able to drill down metres in to the ground helping them to reach the nutrients they need to survive. On top of having this ability, this grass seed mix is highly disease resistant.

To achieve your best possible lawn, it is important to follow the guidelines on how to sow your grass seed.

Sowing A New Lawn

Dig the soil over to a depth of 20 to 30cm.
Remove any large stones and weeds by hand.
Add topsoil if the soil is poor quality or uneven.
Rake the area to get a level seedbed.
At this point, we recommend our Pre-Seed Fertiliser.
If using feriliser, wait one week before seeding.
Sow at the recommended rate by hand or with a spreader.
Rake the seed in so it is just under the surface of the soil.
Apply a light layer of soil to improve germination and deter birds.
Compact the surface by foot or by using a roller.
Water well straight away and continue until established.
Leaving the seeded area to dry out will delay the process.

Overseeding An Existing Lawn

We recommend using our Weed, Feed & Moss Killer.
If using the weed and feed, wait eight weeks before seeding.
Rake to remove any dead grass, moss and weeds.
Rake until the soil has loosened and is no longer compact.
Sow at the recommended rate by hand or with a spreader.
Rake the seed in so it is just under the surface of the soil.
Apply a light layer of soil to improve germination and deter birds.
Compact the surface by foot or by using a roller.
Water well straight away and continue until established.
Leaving the seeded area to dry out will delay the process.
