This rodent management course is recognised by the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) and is a requirement for those wanting to purchase professional rodenticides.

From January 2026 there are important changes in legislation that will affect many rodenticide users. Anybody wishing to purchase professional use rodenticide products must hold a stewardship-specific training certificate less than 5 years old, or an older certificate will be valid provided they are part of a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme. For farmers and gamekeepers existing membership in Farm Assurance Schemes will no longer be enough to purchase, a CRRU approved certificate within the last 5 years must also be held.

We offer this fully online training course and assessment in Level 2 Rodent Management which can be easily completed in your own home within 4-6 hours, and following successful completion will provide you with an e-certificate that will be valid for the next 5 years.

This payment includes both the training and assessment

Introduction to Rodent Management Course Level 2

Following the recent changes to the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) UK Code of Best Practice, more comprehensive learning is required for the purchase of professional rodenticide products. People looking to purchase professional baits will now need to pass a Level 2 regulated qualification.

On completion of the assessment that follows this training, certificate holders will be able to purchase and use professional rodenticides on farm or in domestic and industrial situations.

What this Rodent Management Course covers:

  • Rodent management and the law
  • Target pest species and non-target species
  • Evidence of rodents and site surveys
  • Evaluate control options and rodent destruction
  • Control programmes
  • Safe storage and transport of biocides
  • Disposal of biocides and containers
  • Record keeping

It is essential that anyone working in pest control keeps up to date with changes in legislation and best practice.

This training course will take you through all of the theory and the practical application knowledge that you will need for your online exam.

The training course and assessment can only be completed on a laptop or desktop computer - IPads, tablets and phones CANNOT be used

If you unfortunately do not pass your assessment on the first try, we are able to book a resit for you at a reduced cost. In order to purchase a resit assessment please contact our training team on 01778 394052 and discuss your options with them.

Exam Details

Once you have completed all of the training course modules you will be able to click a button which takes you to the exam. At this point you will have 7 days to start the exam. Once the exam has been started you will have 1 hour to answer 40 multiple choice questions in an open book exam situation. Pass mark for this exam is 80%.

A pass or fail result will show at the end of the exam however, due to it being a proctored exam, we won’t know where a candidate has failed, just the percentage score. If the candidate has successfully passed, the invigilation will take an additional five working days for full confirmation on the final result. This is done through an external company and decisions do not lie with ProGreen.
