Throughout January there are still many jobs that need to be completed around the garden to ensure everything stays in order during the cold months of winter. It is vital that the following jobs are only carried out when weather and ground conditions are suitable. Here are some of our suggestions of jobs that could be carried out over the course of this month:
General Tasks For January
- Collect fallen leaves and any other debris that may have blown in to your garden
- If you did not already do so during the previous month, service your gardening equipment to make sure that they are in top working order ready for the spring seasons to come

Lawns / Turfed Areas
- If there are frosts on the ground, keep off the lawn
- If worm casts are present, remove if possible
Trees, Shrubs and Hedges
- Take care of any newly planted evergreens
- If there has been any snowfall, it is important that you brush snow off of hedges and shrubs
- Planting of hedging such as beech and hawthorn can commence
- Arbor Gold slow release fertiliser should be added at the time of planting to ensure best establishment
